I appreciate eating healthy. I try to do it almost every meal. Sometimes, I want to have a taste of home. Sometimes I just want a good ol’ hamburger, not that turkey mess that people try to pull off as a hamburger. Well, this is the way I make a true 100% BEEF burger that taste great, but still keeps in the rules of power eating. Here are the ingredients:

100% Whole Wheat Buns

Sirloin Ground Beef

Spinach

Tomato, pickles, onions, etc.

Low Fat Cheese

Mustard

Canola Oil Mayo

Spice mix: steak sauce, lower sodium Worcestershire sauce, Dijion mustard, garlic powder, steak seasoning. Mix to your liking.

Of course, begin with the hamburger meat. Make sure you get the leanest beef available to you. When I went, there was 90/10 sirloin. It isn’t really 90% fat free, but it was the leanest available. Don’t don’t what the leanest beef is? Simply pick the most expense per pound =). You want to add your spices during this time and mix the meat and spices in a bowl. Make balls out of them and then gently flatten them out. I can get 5-6 hamburgers patties out of a packet. I use a George Foreman to cook the burgers. I cook them for 5-6 minutes.

While the burgers are cooking, I get out the whole wheat buns to toast. I put on a few slices of low fat cheese and then I toast the buns in an upright toaster.

After the buns are toasted, I put the fixings on the bun. I like mustard. I sometimes like mayo. If you use may, make sure you use the new Canola Oil Mayo, which has less saturated fat.

Make sure to add some spinach or green leaf lettuce to get a fiberous carbohydrate in there. I usually supplement my burger with a vegetable in order to make sure I get enough fiberous carb in my meal.

And there you have it: a not so bad for you beef burger that taste just as good as you remember!

Be Better,

Dexter
